The 33 year old veteran firmly believes that he still has some gas left in the tank before he takes on an executive position.
Mo Evans played a very key role as a representative of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) to help end the lockout last summer which led to short spanned 66 game season.
However, the 33 year old veteran, who helped every NBA player in keeping their jobs last season remains a free agent during the off-season with no offers on the table
But to Evans, him being a free agent is not going to last very long, as he feels that he can still play a key role on any team he joins.
"Given that I'm a veteran, I know where my value lies," Evans said. "At this stage of the game and at this stage in my life, I'm waiting for the place I feel God has already marked for me. The impact I can make is not only on the
floor, it's even more so in the locker room and the community. That's the marquee value I bring to the table."
Evans spent last season with the Washington Wizards and even though he did not receive much minutes, he played a vital role in guiding the young players finish the season strongly with a six game winning streak. In that span, the
Wizards defeated the eventual champions Miami Heat twice and Evans had a major contribution in one of those games. The veteran put up 18 points against the Heat and even had a 16 point outing against the Chicago Bulls.
But the most important role he played was guiding the likes of John Wall and Jordan Crawford as a mentor – a quality he has been recognized for all over the league.
Reports have come forth that the Wizards are looking to bring back Evans as an executive in player development. The player at the moment is not ready to hang up his playing boots. However, he did contemplate that an office job
with the league is surely an option for the future.
Evan can play a key role on young rosters like Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers or even the Charlotte Bobcats. However, he remains adamant that he can also have a similar kind
of a impact on a seasoned roster.
"I can have a similar impact in a veteran locker room the same way I can have on a younger locker room," Evans said.
