Mobile Bay LPGA Classic: Lindsey Wright registers a bogey-free first round

Lindsey Wright carded a superb 67 in the first round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, on Thursday, sharing the lead with other three players.
Wright, the Australian player who plays mostly on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, faced a tough competition from Katie Futcher, Caroline Hedwall and Jennifer Rosales in the opening round, but managed to pile up a good score.
With the comfortable weather helping players make calculated putts, Wright held her never and avoided making bogeys.
She kicked off the round with confidence, as she parred the first three holes. She amazed the spectators on the par-5 4th hole, as she drained her first birdie.
After parring another two holes, she reeled off her second birdie on the par-4 7th. According to analysts, Wright stayed strong on most of the holes, despite facing trouble on some of them.
The Magnolia Grove’s Crossing Course is one of the most favourite venues, and players usually post better scores, due largely to suitable weather conditions.
Speaking to the media at the end of the first round, Wright said that she was glad that she posted a decent score in the opening round, which will help her further improve her game in the next three rounds.
Recording three birdies with no bogey on the front nine consolidated Wright’s position on the leaderboard.  On the back nine, she made two birdies and avoided making any bogey.
Other players, who managed to grab the top spot, also put up a tough fight. Jennifer Rosales carded a 67 to stand tied for the first. She shot 6 birdies, but misjudged her putt on the par-4 9th, recording a bogey.
Rosales looked fired up on the back nine, as she reeled off two straight birdies on the 10th and 11th. Analysts said that if the Filipino had avoided making a lone bogey, she would have grabbed the first-round lead.
Rosales said that she has been involved in healthy off-course activities, which really helped her polish her swing and putting skills.
Caroline Hedwall also stands tied for first after recording a 67. The Swedish star also registered a bogey-free round, with 5 birdies. She received a big round of applause from the spectators when she drained two back-to-back birdies on the 16th
and 17th.
