My family was looking into buying a nice mobile home. It has a metal roof, is that bad like when its lightning or raining? whats good about a metal roof?

Also it has a tree in the front ... do you think that'll be a problem in like a thunderstorm?

But it is a nice for a mobile home..

what are some good/bad things about a mobile home?

And do you think it would be good in a storm?

Also it has propane to heat it... how much is propane, because my parents said its alot. Is there any way to install natural gas?

Sorry, I know its alot of questions but thanks for answering, and if you only know the answer to one/two of the questions i've asked that okay

thanks for answering

  1. There is nothing wrong with living in a mobile home. It has it's problems, just like any house would. Perhaps a tad bit more.

I don't know about the metal roof--seems that it would be okay.

I use propane at my house--I don't think it costs any different than natural gas--all kinds of gas are expensive right now.

But you should look into the history of that area--mobile homes are notorious for getting damaged in storms, especially tornadoes. And make sure there is a good storm shelter nearby.

  2. Yea there is no problem. the only issue with metal roofs is the noise they make in the wind. It takes some getting used to. They also get very hot in the summer. As far as storms. Yea depending on where you live they can be the first thing to go.

The tank usually has to be filled once or twice a year. It pans out to be the same cost wise as it would to buy natural gas or make monthly gas bill payments. But up front, it is quite a chunk of change.
