Question:

Mobile broadband in Germany?

Will be working in Germany 4 nights a week. Want access to broadband in my apartment in the evening but don't want to commit to a Deutsche Telekom landline or a broadband provider.

Anyone know of any good German mobile broadband provider that I could use with my laptop? Don't want more than a 12 month minimum contract, no minumum contract would be great.

  1. Alice DSL offers the possibilty to leave the contract every month, you just need to tell them 4 weeks in advance.

  2. There is a card you can buy from t-mobile, I think it provides you with 100 hours of internet access or something like that. Check out their website, I'm sure you'll find it.

  3. Don't know about the contracts or plans.

But Vodafone has the best and fastest Network for 3G (mobile broandband)

The offer a so called "Mobile Connect Flat" for 35€ a month (24 month contract). But that is not a real "flat-rate", because they will reduce the DL-Speed to 64 K/bit when you get over 5gb traffic in a month.

  4. Check out Vodafone's UMTS (3G, for those Americans; mobile broadband) flatrate offers. Or talk to a neighbor if he'd share his WiFi (WLAN) access. I gladly would share my DSL flat with you if you'd be willing to share the TREMENDOUS costs of 15 €/month with me, or we'd meet for a pizza and a beer (or a pretzn and a Weißwurst) every 1st Sunday.

If you don't want to commit to a landline provider, these are the options you have.

Generally, I like Vodafone (also known as "D2" in Germany) more than Deutsche Telekom. Be careful with T-Mobile offers; usually, there's a lot of strings attached. Not that they weren't with Vodafone, but the strings appear slightly thinner and easier to cut to me.

  5. check out t-mobile!!

    get the broadband card!

If you need to access the internet while you're on the move, then these T-Mobile broadband deals are worth consideration. They are particularly popular among business users that need to check their emails or stay in touch with the office while out on assignment.
