Mobile phone networks in Ireland - I have an unlocked mobile phone?

Question

Going on holiday in Ireland - can I buy a pay as you go sim card to use in this whilst I am there to prevent roaming charges? If so, where can I get this and can you recommend any particular network - which has the best general coverage and has the cheapest calls and texts?

go with o2 ....they have all ireland coverage and their rates are cheap enough....!!

there are 4 different mobile networks in Ireland, meteor, 02, 3 mobile and vodafone. I find 02 to be the best but they are all much the same

you can buy simcards for each network, and if you are in Dublin city, there are mobile stores in every high street, but in particular, Henry street and Grafton street, just explain what you want to the staff and they'll be happy to help, and most stores will set up the cards and whatever for you

You can get a 086 (02) or a 087 (vodafone ) sim card for your phone there about 15 euro , my  sister uses one when she comes to visit me hear in Ireland you just have to make sure your phone is unlocked so it will take another sim. the other two network what the guy above says are c**p dont get then im on the three and had nothing but trouble with it , stick with the 086 or 087.

u can get a new sim.. 10 euros.... 10 euros worth of calls on it =)

its median or something that i bought a sim for.. i forget its last November..

they do change network provider depending where you go I have noticed. i think its 02 , depends which part of Ireland. if you go into rural ireland, it will switch providers i have found to the strongest signal.

you phone says which provider its on when it switches hopefully.

o2 its 11cent a text compared to vodafones 13cent and better ccoverage than other networks like meteor
