Mobsters reportedly involved in Paul Briggs-Danny Green bout
In July a bout between Danny Green and Paul Briggs put the boxing world in disarray.  New developments may do the same.
A faction of a notorious Lebanese street gang called the Sword Boys were reportedly part of the last-minute betting plunge that rocked the title fight hours before its opening bell,
The West Australian says.
In the fight, Briggs was knocked out seconds into the opening round due to a harmless-looking jab that grazed the top of his head.  Immediately after the referee counted him out Green called him a “dog”
and claimed he had thrown the fight.  Afterwards the online bookmaker Centrebet confirmed they had experienced a “highly dubious” plunge in bets just before the bout.
According to the West Australian the Sword Boys filled in hundreds of betting tickets mere hours before the fight to the tune of at least $100,000.
“The extraordinary plunge, which mostly involved bets of $100 each on Green to win in the first round, was captured on the TAB's security video,” the
West Australian reported.
“In addition, gang members laid bets totalling about $100,000 on Green to win in the days leading up to the fight with various bookmakers, including one from the Northern Territory who has refused to pay
out.”
Shash Nigam, an Australian lawyer, said that a client had filed a report in relation to the conduct of the bookmaker who refused to accept the bet before the fight.

“I can confirm that my client has filed a complaint in relation to the conduct of the bookmaker with the Northern Territory Racing and Gaming Commission,” Nigam said.
After Briggs weighed into the fight at nearly four kilograms over the contracted weight for the fight, Green called him “unprofessional.”  Subsequently, after the bout, whereas Green initially accused
Briggs of throwing it, he later changed his mind and said that he believed he had caught Briggs fair and square and hurt him.
