Mock draft exercise for NFL season 2012 begins with Andrew luck in lead – NFL Special
It is the middle of November and like every year the current regular season of the American football’s premier league; National Football League (NFL) is halfway through. The month marks an important feature of the game; the start
of mock draft exercise.
It is almost three months from pre-season practice for the start of season 2012. That is time when the new picks, who under the rule of the game, are drafted into the 32 franchise teams of the professional league NFL, shown to
fans, and the line-ups of each team become clear to each other teams.
The drafts are picked according to their rating and ratings of the NFL professional team. Indianapolis Colts for example who are the only winless team in the current NFL season at 0-10 are eligible to go for the best rated Stanford
player Andrew Luck.
However, it is halfway through and Colts although not expected might show some extraordinary skills to push forward before the end of the season. So far they are far from their chances for even playoffs.
The players from the college football league are rated and drafted into professional teams. The rating forms basis of their talent and game skills, which is determined by their performance in their college and university teams.
It to some extent also matters on the commentators and game expert opinion about those players, published and highlighted by the media.
An exercise to this has already been started. The exercise is called mock draft. With start of the mock draft season, a wave of opinions and experts guesses, analysis, predictions, and projection is launched in the print and electronic
media.
By the time the times comes to drafting of the players into professional teams, all 32 potential draft players and their suitors, the teams that they are likely to join, becomes very clear.
November is the month that teams start weighing their options. Under the rules each team has to draft one player into their side. So, total 32 players are lined up from the college leagues for drafting into the 32 franchise professional
teams.
This year with Andrew Luck almost decided to be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, the draft race is said to start from the No 2. Andrew Luck ranks No 1. Indianapolis which lagged behind the NFL current season at 0-10 is his potential
team.
Former Colts coach Tony Dungy has predicted that they will draft the player. However, he said that they might go for trading him with any other team. Under the draft rules a team, which drafts a player from the college league who
ranks at any number and is drafted at any position, can trade him for any amount with any of the 32 professional NFL leagues. This can under any circumstance and under any reason.
So, according Dungy the possible reason for Colts to trade Luck could be the return of their injured key player Peyton Manning.
Manning is out for his neck injury and is being ruled out for whole current regular season. However, his younger brother, Eli Manning, who is quarterback with the New York Jets, has expressed optimism that his brother could be
back before end of the current season. The reason he expressed confidence about his return is his keenness and hard work on the recovery process. So, if Peyton returns, Dungy said, that Colts would have an option to trade Andrew Luck with any team.
However, on the other hand, Colts have already started considering of their options with regard to their potential targets in the post-Manning era. According to the Indianapolis Colts chairman Bill Polian he has Peyton’s backing
to it. A decision to this however is expected by April next year. So it will be atleast another five to six months that the Colts position will give a complete view.
All other teams in the meantime have started weighing their options in the backdrop of a flood of information and critical analysis of each player.
With the No 1 position already decided, the race this begins at No 2. A poll carried out by the NFLDraftScout.com has put Matt Barkley, junior quarterback with Southern California at the second best position.
Similar surveys and polls have been carried out and are being carried out by other websites and organizations with the draft fever making headlines as the league enters into the week 11.
