  1. i failed my mock test, about a month before i did my real test.

    I passed first time!

the more mistakes you make now, will make you more aware of things, you wont make those same mistakes on your test.

just relax you'll be fine :)

  2. No. It will highlight though areas you may need further work on, so its a good thing.

  3. Hi, I personally think it depends on the individual. I always offer mock tests to my pupils, but rarely do the test myself. I am good friends with another instructor who performs my mock tests for me, therefore making it slightly more realistic as the pupils don't know him, and haven't got the safety net they have with me sitting next to them.

It is also really useful as far as I am concerned to get a 2nd opinion on the pupil's driving, as he might spot something I haven't.

I would disagree with the comment that they are counter-productive, I think it depends on the individual, but most of my pupil's have come out of the experience feeling positive and looking forward to their test, knowing which areas, if any, they need to work on.

Good luck - sure you'll do fine :)

  4. The mock driving test shouldn't be given any gravitas what so ever, I've never conducted one as whatever the outcome, they are counter productive.

  5. I passed my mock test but when it came to the real deal i was a nervous wreck so it doesnt really reflect! I suggest you take in everything your instructer tells you and on your actuall test take something like calms tablets.....to calm your nerves!

  6. The Mock test will be quite realistic, the only differences are that it is usually your instructor conducting the test, and there may not be standard tests sheets nor will they be wearing Builders safety gear (Yellow vest).

At the end of the test, the person conducting it will state whether you have passed or failed, and there will usually be More faults pointed out than you would in a real test.

Minor Faults - 15 allowed to Pass

Serious faults - 0 allowed, or you will fail

Dangerous faults - 0 allowed, or you will fail

A Minor fault could be :

    1. Signalling too early, Not causing problems to others

    2. failing to check a particular mirror

    3. Stalling the engine, where it is safe to do so

    4. accidently selecting the wrong gear, eg. 3 instead of 1

    5. failing to cancel the indicator, or too late

    6. Crossing hands on the steering wheel

    7. conducting a sequence in the wrong order

    8. taking the wrong exit as instructed to

    Serious fault :

    1. Failing to leave enough room

    2. not wearing safety belt whilst driving

    3. overtaking where not permitted

    Dangerous fault :

    1. Driving past the waiting line, whilst trafic lights are Red

    2. Sudden stops, a vehicle could drive into you

    3. Exceeding the legal limit

The examiner will have a ticklist, and the sheet will state whether you have passed or failed. The examiner may not discress this, or shouldn't do anyway.

    Answer :

The Mock test is usually conducted about 3 weeks before the real test, allowing you and your instructor to fit in further training in between to ensure that the neccercery improvements can be made.
