Mock the Premier League Weekend – Week 13
Bettor.com has come up with a review of some of the action that took place over the weekend in English Premier League. We have picked up some of the interesting moments from weekends football.
Nedum Onuoha is Sunderland’s Messi
We are not discussing the faulty defensive ability of Nedum Onuoha here, one of the reasons why Manchester City let him go out on loan; it was his stunning goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge which surely would have raised some eyebrows at Eastlands.
His goal saw the spirit of Messi fly over from Barcelona to get in his body, which then resulted in the big fellow making his way past 5 Chelsea players and before superbly sliding the ball past Cech into the back of the net.
The atmosphere at bridge was one to be remembered as it’s a rarity that a team comes away with 3 points, let alone a 3-0 score line.
Zenden should concentrate on football rather than dancing
It’s always a nice feeling to come back to your old club and hand them a 3-0 thumping, and that too as underdogs. However, it would have been better if Mr Zenden had kept his celebrations simple.
Asamoah Gyan has practiced his dance moves probably since he first learned to dance. Zenden was only able to embarrass himself by trying to do a Ghanaian move, which he miserably failed to pull off, just like he fails to pull off his long range passes.
Chelsea missing that ‘Ray’ of light
It has been reported that Carlo Ancelotti was trying to find where Ray Wilkins was, as he pretty cleverly took away Chelsea’s game plan with him. Or at least it looked like that.
Maybe Roman Abramovich did not know the exact role of Ray Wilkins before this game. He was harshly dismissed when he was not offered a new contract after his previous one expired.
They might just be regretting their decision now. Only time will tell how important was that Ray of light for Chelsea.
Fantasy Football Managers – Roy Hodgson’s? Or may be Avram Grant’s.
Those of you who had Richard Stearman in their line up thinking that Wolves hard tackling defenders will keep a clean sheet, how wrong were you. He managed to score an own goal to add to the long list of problems that Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has
to deal with.
Another Leo Messi – Johan Elmander
Johan Elmander’s strike is a real contender for goal of the season along with Nedum Onuoha’s wonder goal against Chelsea.
After a couple of years of playing some shocking stuff, if there was anything he was brilliant at, it was missing good goal scoring chances.
However, that all has dramatically been changed this season. Johan is reborn and has played fantastically for Bolton. His goal at the weekend had a touch of Berbatov but skill and finish of Leo Messi.
Imitating your opponent shows the lack of imagination – Roy Hodgson
Roy Hodgson got his men playing like Stoke City. In a match where Liverpool should a have stamped their authority and tried to play their own brand of football (which no one knows what it is under Roy) or at least tried to keep the ball moving on the
floor, they instead hoofed it like Torres was Kenwyne Jones.
In truth, Roy’s men actually failed to imitate Stoke City in their attacking play. Somebody needs to go and tell Roy that this isn’t the Liverpool way and his players aren’t like the Fulham players.
Abysmal stuff from Liverpool and even a top half finish cannot be expected from Roy’s team. He simply doesn’t have a clue on how finish in the top half, let alone top four.
