Mod Shop on Pokemon Sapphire?

I got the Gameshark SP code for the Mod shop, but every time I use it I get the response:

"DAD's advice...

Xander, there's a time and place for everything!"

What do I do to use it?

it souds like you are pressing the select button beacause when you have something assigned to it it will say that in an area you cant use it in, but i have no clue why it isnt working

But i recremend not using one because it can ruin your game and takes the fn away from playin git the good old fashioned way!
