Model Pupil confident about the Garbutt & Elliott Conditions Stakes
Quite a few potential entries have made it to the Class 3 Garbutt & Elliott Conditions Stakes, even with the line-up comprising of only nine runners who are three-year-old and above. They will battle over the mile, two furlongs and eighty-eight yards in order to get entitled to the £9,704 prize money. Almost everyone in the field has raced at York before.
Coming after the break of four months is the three-year-old bay colt, Model Pupil, who has raced just thrice during the two seasons he has been active in.
The Charles Hills’ trained kick started the season by winning the Get Your Bets On At bluesquare.com Maiden Stakes on 18th April, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile and two furlongs.
Pairing up with jockey, Michael Hills, the three-year-old waited in the background initially, made smooth progress when there remained the final two furlongs to be raced over. After gaining dominance in the final furlong, he had to battle out the last 100 yards with the closing in favourite entry, Shantaram. The rival did not allow much breathing space to the winner who could escape defeat only by a nose’s margin.
Missing the freedom from the maiden by finishing third was, Yazdi.
Sinndar’s three-year-old colt found his next stop to be the Group 3 MBNA Chester Vase (Colts & Geldings) on 10th May, 2012 at Chester race course over a mile and 4 ½ furlongs.
Coupled with the same jockey, the three-year-old out of, Modesta, saw the tables turning as this time instead of beating the closest threat by a nose’s mark, he lost the winner’s prize money by a nose’s differential.
It was difficult to match the rival who was looking out for a defining role even with seven furlongs on their way. The final breath taking saw the rider’s slip of foot which really turned out to be the reason for his failure.
Back after a long rest, he is backed by 10 to 3 odds for creating an impact on the outcome of the race. His jockey remains the same, and the duo will race from the third stall.
He will need to look out for, Woodacre, who is backed up by some really impressive rankings from the last few races.
