  1. Buy an ARF,(Almost Ready to Fly)

    Other than that, it depends on how difficult the model is to build. There are all kinds of models like, plastic display, all balsa, composit fuselage with foam sheeted wings, war planes, stunt planes, biplanes, gliders, nitro, electric, pylon racers, quarter scale, giant scale -------

    Over simplification of your question would be, #1 buy a kit. #2 glue the parts together, #3 cover the model #4 install the engine or motor and #5 balance the model, then go fly it!

    Seriously though, building model airplanes is a sort of learn by doing. The manufacturer of the kits tries to make the instructions as simple as possible. When I build an R/C model, I invest roughly 200 hours in the actual building, covering and completion of it. And I have been doing it for a very long time That's why manufacturers have invested so heavily in the current ARF's. Building kits and scratch building is becoming a lost art.

  2. I totally agree with Mr Bright. Go ARF!! Although, I would suggest building one from a scratch kit model just so you can appreciate that ARF kit when you pull it out of the box.

  3. Check out this web site. www.guillow.com-They have the very best complete balsa kits very accurate detales

  4. In reply to your question the five steps are as follow;

    3- assembly; Wings, fuselage, tail, etc.

    4- covering; Sheet balsa and paint, monokote, fiberglass.

    5- Rigging; Installing servos, control horns, fuel tank.
