I have an ARRIS modem with the company Comcast. The modem will only give internet to this PC. I can connect the modem to my pc directly and it will say there is no internet. It does this as well with my XBOX 360. What should I do?

  1. buy a switch,  buy a patch cable, and connect both at the same time http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

  2. Share your PC connection.

  3. Yep.  Every time you change whatever's plugged into your modem, unplug the modem for 10 seconds.  This makes it 're-detect' what it's talking to.  Annoying, isn't it?

You may want to consider getting a router, that way all your computers/devices can be connected to the internet at the same time.  If you don't need wireless that can be "turned off" (for security, if you don't use it) on a wireless router and then "turned on" later.  I got a Belkin 54G router for $39 (cheapest I could find) and it came with a CD that guided me through plugging in the wires and setting up security on the wireless.
