Going to chi-town for business. Can anyone recommend moderately priced restaurant near McCormick Place?

  1. also, to echo Olivia's answer, I'd recommend using Menuism.com ( http://www.menuism.com ) to find restaurants in Chicago that fit whatever specifications you have. The search allows for lots of fine-tuning.

Have a great time in Chicago! My tip: don't automatically look towards the Loop for food & entertainment - it can be a little dead after-hours. Try one of Chicago's million neighborhoods - one that's conveniently located for you.

  2. McCormick Place visitors food service.

Others not too far by cab would be the better method

  3. Unfortunately there isn't that much right *next* to McCormick Place, but Chinatown (Archer and Cermak) is nearby, with lots of good restaurants, including Three Happiness.  My favorite nearby restaurant is the sushi restaurant Triad, at Indiana and Cullerton.

You'll get a lot of debate on which is the best deep dish pizza in Chicago, but my money is on Lou Malnati's, with Giordano's a close second.

  4. McCormick Place is in the middle of NOTHING.  It is on the lakefront, and the only thing sort of close by are Soldier's Field and the Field Museum.  Chinatown is pretty close, but you will still need a cab.  Be careful---Chinatown is not too safe after hours.  Stick with the new section or it.  Yuo will be able to tell the difference when you see it.

If you want a little entertainment, go to Navy Pier.  It will be just directly north of where you are on the lake.  A cab will get you there in about 10 minutes, traffic willing.  There are lots of restaurants there as well, and usually some sort of entertainment.  It is still pretty chilly here, so bring a jacket.  Especially if you are near the lake.

  5. I agree with the others...you'll have to venture into the Loop since there's nothing right near McCormack Center. Check out metromix for suggestions on a host of restaurants:

For deep dish pizza, definitely try Lou Malnati's. Also, Giordano's is pretty good.
