Not the oldies! Please no! Something a bit more modern, farthest back being ten years. For the first dance please!

  1. The first dance should be a song that has a lot of meaning to the two of you, no matter if it is a heavy metal song or a country song, as long as it has meaning to you.

This song is often "your song" or a song that you want to become your song. It is very personal.

I suggest going to google and searching "Modern First Dance Songs" or "Modern Wedding Songs"

  2. To heck with all of the usual B.S. Pick something that you and your significant other absolutely love!

We went boring with an Elvis song. I suggest starting with an Elvis song and about ten seconds into it, have the DJ scuff the track and break into something off the wall. Remember, have fun; this is a day for YOUR FAMILY, NOT YOU, so, make one h**l of an impression. Best of luck to you.

  3. The first dance song is whatever you two have shared in a special moment. If she dances with her dad the perfect song is "Sunrise , Sunset" The important thing is make it YOUR day together. Forget about what others think, expects or demands. Best wishes for a long wonderful marriage. I miss my husband terribly and will always remember "our" song. He died this year just a few days shy our 30th anniversary and I still hurt so very much. You are blessed. Enjoy and party on.

  4. Questions...

    1.  Do you have a song that has special meaning to you both?

    2.  Do you have a specific dance you want to do to it (ie do you want to do the traditional 3 step waltz or just a side shuffle waltz - or do you want something more upbeat?)

My husband and I chose our song because it was the first song we played when we got engaged.  We wanted a song we could waltz to as we had just started learning ballroom dancing - so we played Annie's Song by John Denver, however it was too fast to dance a standard waltz to.  We spend 4 months prior to our wedding learning to viennese waltz (one of the hardest ballroom dances) and it worked so beautifully for the wedding and will always remain a special song to the both of us because of it.

Here are a few modern songs that I like but it does depend on the first two questions.

Yiruma - River Flows in You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhN7SG-H-...

    Jason Mraz - I'm Yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkHTsc9PU...

Finger Eleven - Change the World http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ONWUgFzm...

Brian McFadden - Like Only A Woman Can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaDLT1AOI...

  5. First of all, it should really be a song that has a lot of meaning for the both of you...so pretty much what everyone else has said. However, a song that I find very pretty especially for the first dance is by John Legend and the song is called Stay With You. I'm not sure what kind of music you are into, but this one always gets me. Here is a link so you can listen. Hope this helps!!! Let me know if you like :)
