Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim or Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, who will come out on top? – Charts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have shattered all the industry’s previous sales records in its opening week and topped the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 charts in the United Kingdom as well, but Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is the fastest
selling game in the series as well and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim topped the PC charts in the region.
So the question is which game emerged top of the pile for the previous week of sales?
10. Just Dance 3: fun while it lasted, Just Dance 3 seems to be dancing its way off the top ten places in the charts and the 70’s disco era below. Not that it is a bad thing, it is just that the 70’s were ‘so yesterday’.
9. Super Mario 3D Land: If gamers ever needed an excuse to buy themselves a Nintendo 3DS then Super Mario 3D Land is that reason. Its sales may be slightly lower than expect, but that is because the sales of the 3DS were slow to start off
with as well.
8. Battlefield 3: EA’s first-person shooter seems to have done its job and is slowly slipping down the charts, yet an early release means that it did not have to compete with the majority of the heavyweights in the industry.
7. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: Another entry in the iconic Zelda series, Skyward Sword has also enjoyed a strong week of sales in the Nintendo market, yet its lack of ‘multiplatform-ivity’ means that it has to settle for seventh
place in the charts.
6. Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary: Master Chief may be on his way back for three more games after the end of the Bungie developed trilogy, yet the former developer decided to leave on last gift for all the Halo fans out there and it seems
to have been selling rather well.
5. FIFA 12: EA’s best selling football simulation game continues to sell well and manages to hold on to a place in the top five spots despite some serious competition.
4. Saints Row: The Third: a breath of fresh air from almost every other game on the market, Saints Row: The Third, seems to be giving everyone a good time as it debuts at the number four spot in the charts.
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: it may have topped the PC charts but it was not enough for the game with dragons to top the overall sales charts in the UK.
2. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations: despite breaking the launch week sales record for the series, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations could only manage a second place finish.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: yes, the game is selling better than any entertainment product in history and yes, it has topped the charts in the United Kingdom for another week. No surprises there.
