Modern Warfare 3 Spec Ops details leaked, Call of Duty Elite subscriptions details
One of the world’s best selling franchises, the Modern Warfare series seems to be leaking information on their upcoming title, Modern Warfare 3, left right and centre.
The latest in a host of leaks comes in the form of details of the game’s Spec Ops mode. The co-op feature in Modern Warfare 2 put two players on the same team as they looked to complete various objectives against AI ‘bad guys’.
It seems that Infinity Ward, the developers behind the game, want to take it a step further as they have added a couple of new features to the Spec Ops mode.
The most notable of which seems to be the ‘survival/horde’ mode which will see wave upon wave of enemy AI descend on the players as they look to stay alive for as long as possible.
While it may sound similar to the zombies mode in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at war and Black Ops titles, it is in fact Infinity Ward’s own take on the formula.
Modern Warfare 3 will not be featuring zombies, leaving players to fight against mercenaries, terrorists and supposedly Russians instead. Players will be able to play the mode on around a dozen different levels, each with its unique design and setting.
The possibility of perks that an entire team can use are also strongly rumoured which would take things up a notch from previous titles. Dubbed ‘team perks’ the details on how the dynamic will work are still unclear, though there seem to be suggestions that
it will tie in with the Call of Duty Elite feature.
This is not the first leak the game has suffered, with the single player campaign details making their way on to the internet well before the official reveal trailer was ever released. The names of the new characters, Frost and Sandman, were also made public
in premature fashion.
Meanwhile, Activision did share an official piece of verified information for a change with the announcement of their Call of Duty Elite service to start with the release of Modern Warfare 3.
While the service is set to be free, Activision have confirmed that there will be certain, as yet undecided, premium features that players will be granted access to once they subscribe to the service.
Elite is set to be Call of Duty’s answer to social networking allowing players to create clans, join groups and share any and everything CoD, ranging from players kills and death to statistics on how the player fares with each weapon.
Players can also review their performances and a regular web series is also rumoured to be included in the service.
However, no official subscription fee has been announced with speculation indicating the amount towards the $8 mark.
