  1. It'll bring a darkness in our history.

  2. First Post

  3. That's the issue though, no one is trying to stop genocides. From the Armenian genocide in Turkey to the Holocaust to Bosnia to Rwanda to Darfur, no one has tried to stop them they just stop eventually do to various reasons after one group gets to the brink of utter destruction.

Genocide does not affect the world per se, but as human beings it is our moral duty to fight against it

  7. the killing fields in Cambodia

  8. Here is what governments (try...or do not try to) do to prevent genocide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide#St...

Right now, there is an ongoing genocide in Darfur: http://www.darfurscores.org/darfur

However, the genocide was largely unacknowledged for a time, though steps are being taken now to help those affected.

Other than Darfur, the most recent genocide would have to be the Rwandan genocide in 1994, which resulted in 800,000 and 1,000,000 deaths, the Al Zarqawi genocides in Iraq (04-06), which resulted in roughly 2,000 deaths.

Note: The AIDS crisis in Africa is NOT genocide. The definition of genocide is: any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Under this definition, the AIDS crisis is not genocide, because it is NOT intentional on the part of the government.
