Question:

Modern lifestyle kills passion?

I've been thinking about this for quite a lot..and I personally think that there's something about the modern way of lifestyle "of nations based on materialism or consumerism" that kills passion, or a necessity to thrive because in modern times everything is there for you...In other words, many things are taken for granted.. Hence people become lazy and constantly and only seek comfort, pleasure, wealth..etc instead of what's really important such as passion, love, and dreams...and not only that, those pleasures and comforts distract people "off their track" and feed fear...Therefore, I've personally concluded that the modern lifestyle is damaging to the soul of a person..yet, many people including my parents disagree with me...Am I wrong? What do you guys think so?

  1. I think so to since most of my time is spent on the computer

    or some other electronic device [x

    but than again, I'm only 14.

    However, if I were older, I would definitely do something else with my life;

    and pursue my dreams and goals.

    As a Christian, I would also learn more about my religion.

    I do try my best to help out and be grateful. =/

    hope I helped anyway, (=

  2. I believe that the modern lifestyle damages a lot of things and yes passion as well. Morals and values have changed and have been replaced by fast paced craziness accompanied by doing things in the easiest most convenient way sometimes as opposed to the best way. Many people are trying so hard to make ends meet, that they have no choice but to have other people raise their own children. Families have very little time to spend together and couples face this as well. In seeking only momentary comfort and instant gratification, people lose sight of who they are and the finer things in life. Whatever happened to "Stop and Smell the Roses?"

    For one...there are not enough roses left because metaphorically no one has the time to plant long lasting ones...

    and Two...People are too afraid to plant a good solid foundation and they either do not have the time, or do not take the time to bother to stop and cultivate a meaningful life. Or in the case or this era...they might not know where to start.

  3. I agree with you, the modern world can be a soulless place. But I think someone who is aware of it, such as yourself, can take steps toward kindling and preserving passion within themselves.

  4. I think you are correct. People used to only buy what they needed, but then Freud's nephew, a guy named Edward Bernaise, discovered that he could use people's primitive drives to make them buy things they don't need.

    Here's a video about it. It's pretty cool:
