Maiga, who saw his proposed transfer to Newcastle United fall through in January, has finally sealed a move to the Premier League after passing his medical with the East London club.
The former Le Mans player has expressed his delight after signing for the Premier League club and has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by the Hammers.
"I am really happy and excited about joining West Ham United," Maiga told the club's official website.
The striker is in a confident mood and is relishing the idea of playing in one of the best leagues in the world. While talking to reporters, the Mali international, who can play as a central striker as well as on the wing, said that
West Ham is a big club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and have a rich history and he is glad to be a part of it.
“I know West Ham are a big club in England and I'm really looking forward to representing them. They have huge tradition and it is like joining part of a family and that is one of the main reasons I wanted to come here.”
Maiga stated that he knows several great players who have played for the London club and is eagerly looking forward to the latest adventure in his career.
"I know some of the big names that have played for the club in the past and I am proud to be part of a new team back in the Premier League."
The 24-year-old, who joined Sochaux in 2010, managed to make 62 appearances for the French club scoring 25 goals in the process. Maiga has also regularly featured for the National side scoring 5 goals in 31 appearances for the Eagles.
Maiga’s departure from Sochaux will hurt the Ligue 1 outfit next season and the French club would want to sign an able replacement for the striker before the start of the next season.
