Modibo Maiga on the verge of securing a move to Newcastle United - Report
Reports in English media suggest that English Premier League side Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Modibo Maiga for a move to the Tyneside in the upcoming winter transfer window.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Modibo-Maiga-c26167 is currently on the books of French Ligue 1 side FC Sochaux Montbéliard where he has become one of the hottest talents in French football. The 24-year-old striker has long been linked with a move away from the Stade Auguste Bonal but Sochaux
have tried really hard in order to keep hold of the striker.
According to the Daily Sun, the residents of St James’ Park have already reached an agreement with Maiga over a move to the club and reports further indicate that Maiga has agreed to a four and a half year contract with Newcastle United.
The Daily Mail claims that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mali-c2951 international’s representatives have already met the Toon officials and have accepted a pre-contract.
By signing a contract with the English club, Maiga would receive a salary that would be three times is current salary with Les Lionceaux. Daily Mail reports that all that remains for Newcastle United to do is to convince the Sochaux hierarchy.
Reports further suggest that Newcastle will mount a first bid in the region of 6.7 million Euros and could also offer more for a player who Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has been monitoring for almost a year.
Alan Pardew is also reportedly looking to visit Maiga at the Bonal in the coming days in order to discuss and explain his expectations of Maiga face to face.
Sochaux chairman, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-c4885 Lacombe has time and time again cooled of various clubs’ interest in his player especially during the summer transfer window but only time will see if the Sochaux supremo will keep on staving interest from potential suitors of
the Malian.
Already this summer, Les Lionceaux deflected many clubs’ interest in the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryad-Boudebouz-c31970 who are some of the most talented players Ligue 1 has to offer.
Maiga’s move away from the Bonal could possibly pave way for Martin’s and Boudebouz’s moves away from the club which would mean that Sochaux could possibly lose an exciting crop of young players.
