I was wondering if any crystal would work in any radio, and also where I could get a 6.5538 Mhz crystal.

  1. Modifications to a CB radio are illegal.

  2. No they will not work in just any radio.  Generally you will need to specify frequency and the capacitance of the crystal holder because it is almost always a part of an oscillator circuit where the capacitance is an important factor.   International Crystal has been a major supplier of crystals for many years.  Have a look at their web site and check out their FAQs :

I am sure that you can also order some crystals through Mouser per the other poster.

Good luck and have fun.  73 from the Fisherman

  3. You can get that crystal at almost any on line electronic distributor like Digikey, Mouser or Avnet.  I cannot give you any more advise with out knowing the exact rig you have.

  4. Which CB are you trying to mod?  I don't recall any using a 6.5538MHz loop crystal.  E-Mail me the model and I'll look it up in my references.
