New Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has conceded to the possibility of losing star midfielder Luka Modric in the summer transfer window.
The former Porto manager is ready to let go of the Croatian playmaker for the right price, and hopes to invest the money gained from the sale in the Spurs squad.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 has constantly been linked with moves away from White Hart Lane for the past two seasons, with many stating Tottenham’s failure to qualify for the Champions League as the main reason.
Tottenham finished fifth in the 2010/2011 season and lost out on a Champions League spot. This season, despite finishing fourth, Tottenham have again missed out on the European tournament on account of Chelsea’s win against Bayern Munich in the final.
The midfielder had already publicly stated his desire for a new challenge which had led to many clubs showing an interest in the midfielder. Chelsea and Manchester United had been strongly linked to the Croatian, with the former looking most likely to land
his services. Chelsea had placed two bids for him but chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy had rejected both bids.
It now seems as if Modric may be on his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 to sign for Real Madrid before the start of the new campaign.
Speaking on the issue, Villas-Boas said:
"The interest we have from various different clubs shows the importance of the player and what he's done for Tottenham.”
"It's fair to say that the club respects Luka's ambitions and his willingness to move on and he respects the fact that he's an important player for the club and can help us move forward.”
Villas-Boas also spoke about short stint as Chelsea manager and said that it was an important learning experience that has made him a better person and a better coach. Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, he said:
"The experience was extremely gratifying, not professionally in terms of success, but it made me a better coach now than I was at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786."
The 34-year old manager signed a three-year deal with Tottenham earlier this month and is looking forward to a challenging season, and hoping to win silverware with the North London club.
