The Croatian has apologized to the club after he missed their pre-season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 and is now back at Tottenham’s training facilities. Villas-Boas has welcomed the player’s apology, but still admits that he does not expect him to stay with
the club this summer.
Modric has been fronting the headlines for quite some time now, being linked with a move away from White Hart Lane and with many of Europe’s elite clubs.
Two seasons ago, it was Chelsea who were chasing the coveted midfielder. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain entered the fray later on. And now, it looks like Spanish giants Real Madrid may be the club who finally lure the player away from North London.
Villas-Boas refused to state the price that Tottenham have set for their star player, but spoke about the situation and gave some insight into the developments.
Speaking to the press after Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy, he said:
"He has spoken to me and the chairman.”
“His apology comes and it is well welcomed. He's now training and we hopefully make the right decision in the future. We're just waiting on the bidding clubs to offer the right value for a player of big dimension.”
"Modric is of course an extremely good player that has helped Tottenham reach success in the last couple of years.”
At the moment, Modric is set to stay in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and train with the rest of the squad. Villas-Boas said that he wanted the player to stay back so he can work on his fitness.
"We decided for him to stay in London. That's something that I have to judge,” he added.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss also shed light on the matter of Modric’s future. It seems that the Portuguese manager is resigned to lose the midfielder if interested clubs are able to meet Tottenham’s valuation. He also added that it would not be sensible to bring
him back to the squad, but that he is counting on Modric and is behind him should he remain at White Hart Lane next season.
