The Premier League’s longest running transfer saga finally looks set to end as Tottenham Hotspur’s want away midfielder Luka Modric is close to completing a move to Real Madrid.
Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857. The Croatian is expected to fly to Madrid today where he will undergo a medical and join the Spanish giants in a deal that
will reportedly cost £23.6 million up front and a further £3.9 million in add-ons.
This comes as quite a surprise since Tottenham valued Modric at £40 million and played hard ball with Madrid all summer long, refusing to lower their asking price, which proved too much even for the wealthy Spanish club.
Tottenham had been successful in holding on to their coveted player since the past two seasons, and this year finally looked like the year of Modric. However, the midfielder had to experience a very frustrating summer as he waited on his future and was stuck
in limbo.
It is still believed that Tottenham will still not agree to the deal if they are unable to find a replacement before the transfer window shuts down.
Modric has spent four years at White Hart Lane and has been their most important player ever since he arrived. The Croatian was truly a spectacle to watch as he orchestrated Tottenham’s play from the centre of the pitch.
Spurs chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Niko-Kranjcar-c27926 and Croatian national team manager Igor Stimac for breaking promises made
to Modric and not allowing him to leave the club.
Modric is also at fault for unprofessional behaviour. He tried everything to force a move away from the club. The player slowly fell from grace as he refused to train or travel with the squad. The player has since apologized for his behaviour, but only
after he was charged by the club for unprofessional conduct.
It is understood that manager Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a bid for Porto’s Joao Moutinho as the Croatian's replacement and would like to sign him as early as possible. Modric is expected to be unveiled as a Madrid player in the coming days.
