Various English newspapers are reporting that Luka Modric apologized to Tottenham chariman Daniel Levy for going missing in action and failing to report for training with the squad.
Modric had also refused to travel with the Spurs squad as they left for their pre-season tour of the United States. His actions infuriated the board and Levy, who placed two fines on the Croatian for failing to report for training and refusing to travel
with the squad. The fine was initially £80,000 and was expected to rise up to £160,0000 as the club looked to exact maximum punishment and issue a third fine.
The 26-year old midfielder is understood to have flown to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 to link up with manager Andre Villas-Boas and the rest of the squad. Villas-Boas plans on building team spirit and morale at Tottenham’s pre-season camp and Modric’s arrival could
prove to be counterproductive.
Earlier, Villas-Boas had slammed the Croatian’s behaviour by labelling it as unprofessional. Speaking to the press, Villas-Boas said:
"There are clubs interested in him but we have to hold on to our values and our rights and at the moment the situation for Luka is he is under club discipline.”
"Unfortunately for him he's going to have to be fined for not being present.”
"He's a player who has offered so much for Tottenham so we have a sense of respect for what he's done over the years for us but the chairman feels that the fact that he's not present is not common professional behaviour.”
Villas-Boas went on to discuss how surprised he was by Modric’s actions, being an avid admirer of the Croatian. The Portuguese manager had tried signing him while he was in charge of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 last season, but had seen both his efforts fail as Tottenham rejected
two consecutive bids by the Blues.
Modric has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. Now, it looks as if the Croatian’s most likely destination will be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 with Real Madrid leading the chase for his signatures.
