The transfer saga of the Croatian midfielder might be coming to an end, with Real Madrid making a final offer of £27.5 million for the Tottenham player.
Real Madrid have been trying to lure in the Tottenham star since the Euro 2012 campaign has finished.
The Croatian midfielder was phenomenal throughout the last season’s campaign. Moreover, while playing for his national team, Modric was able to give a tough time to teams such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, who eventually qualified for the final of the Euro 2012.
Therefore, Real Madrid scouted the player and want to sign him during this summer transfer window.
Modric has been a potential target for numerous elite European clubs. There were rumours that clubs such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, PSG and Real Madrid were all interested in signing the player.
However, with Real Madrid interested in the Croatian star, most of the clubs backed out as Los Blancos are famous for signing their favourite player.
Jose Mourinho is aiming to build a strong team at the Santiago Bernabeu, as the Portuguese manager is now going to try and win the UEFA Champions League with the Spanish giants, after he managed to win the Spanish La Liga and broke Barcelona’s dominance
on the Spanish soil.
La Liga is going to get interesting with Modric making a move to the Spanish capital. Moreover, Modric’s inclusion in the Real Madrid squad will also make them a strong candidate for the Champions League.
There were rumours that Modric might not leave Spurs as they don’t want to let him go. While speaking about the saga, the Croatian coach, Igor Stimac, said:
"And when the offer arrived he changed his opinion. I think that this guy tries to make himself famous in the world of football, but this isn't the way to do it.
"When you promise something you always need to fulfil it. It was the same with (Dimitar) Berbatov before he signed for Manchester United. He went there on August 31."
Modric’s departure is going to leave a huge void at the White Hart Lane, and Andres Villas Boas will have to act quick in the market so that he can buy a good replacement for the Croat.
