The Croatian midfielder believes that Los Blancos are the most likely side to lift the European Cup this term and feels content with the start to his Madrid career.
Last season’s end saw Real Madrid make a move for Tottenham star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and the London club’s board finally agreed to let the Croatian make his dream move, after being pursued for a long time by the Portuguese manager.
The move took out a huge chunk of money from the capital side’s finances and cost Real Madrid almost 40 million Euros.
Having to start under the pressure of the expensive price tag, the former Tottenham ace has done well to settle in with Los Blancos.
"I have been here three months now and I am used to the rest of the players and the coach's demands. I am happy with my progression."
Modric has been full of praise for his new manager and is very happy to make the move to one of the greatest clubs on the planet.
The Croatian believes that such is the quality of the Spanish side, that this year, they may be termed as the favourites to eventually land the crown of the most prestigious European accolade.
"In fact, I think we are the favourites to win the Champions League."
Despite their shaky league start, Madrid have done in well to cement their progress to the knockout round of the competition.
Real had to settle for 2nd spot in the so termed “group-of-death”, with Borussia Dortmund claiming the top spot in the group. The group also saw Dutch powerhouse Ajax and English champions Manchester City crash out of the tournament.
Qualifying as number 2 from the group may seed Real Madrid against fellow big guns in the round of 16 of the competition.
"Whoever we draw in the next round it will be a hard tie, but if we play as we can then we will be favourites to advance," Modric told reporters.
Modric however was not concerned at who they will be facing in the next round and believed that the other sides should fear the prospect of playing a side of Real Madrid’s quality.
