Tottenham Hotspur manager, Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that want-away midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 will return to first team training with the rest of the Spurs squad, while the club still waits on an acceptable offer for the star player.
The Croatian has been heavily linked with a number of moves away from White Hart Lane. This year marks the third consecutive summer where the midfielder’s future hangs in the balance. Modric has been chased by a number of clubs, including English rivals
Chelsea and Manchester United. French giants Paris Saint-Germain had also been linked with the club, but now, Spanish champions Real Madrid have emerged as favourites to land his services.
Spurs however are not willing to sell Modric for anything less than the
£40 million they’ve placed on him, and at the moment, Madrid are reluctant of paying so much for the player. Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 claimed that the Spanish club tabled a bid of
£33 million, but it was rejected by Tottenham. Other sources reported that Madrid had offered http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuri-Sahin-c28251 as part of an exchange deal for Modric last week, but this was also rejected by Tottenham.
Villas-Boas believes that there is nothing more that the club can do, and wants Modric to accept this fact. The manager claimed that if an offer is not made in time, Modric will have to return to the Tottenham team.
Speaking to the press, he said:
“He has been training separately. Now it is important for Luka to feel mentally ready to come back to first team training.”
"These boys are at a different level in terms of their preparation, concentration and commitment. I think the player has to understand that the club cannot do anything about other clubs' offers. We have a value and an interest that we have to defend, and we
are waiting to reintegrate the player if the offer is not matched."
Villas-Boas has been a long-term admirer of Modric, and had himself tried to sign him in the 2011/2012 season while he was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss. The Portuguese manager wants the situation to be settled as soon as possible, and hopes that Modric returns to training
as early as possible.
"We will try to solve it as soon as possible. It is the second time we have been through this situation.”
