Tottenham Hotspur have told want away midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 to train alone, as the club waits for Real Madrid to lodge an acceptable bid for the Croatian’s services.
The midfielder’s future has been uncertain since the summer transfer window opened. The player has been linked with moves away from the club since the past two consecutive seasons.
Being Tottenham’s most important player and one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Modric had been chased by clubs such as Chelsea for quite some time.
New Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas had himself tried signing the Croatian while he was serving as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager last season. Modric had also expressed his desire to move away from White Hart Lane as he was looking for a new challenge and Champions League
football.
Tottenham were however not willing to part ways with their player. This season, Chelsea gave up on the chase, but clubs such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid entered the picture.
Madrid looked most likely to sign the playmaker up until Tottenham’s refusal to sell him for anything less than £40 million.
The Spanish champions are eager to add Modric to their star-studded squad, but are not keen on paying more than £30 million for the Croatian.
Negotiations between both clubs have failed thus far as a price had not been agreed to. Modric is stuck in limbo and informed to train alone by his club, up until Madrid make an acceptable offer for his signature.
Villas-Boas revealed that he had a ‘pact’ with Madrid regarding Modric. Speaking to the press, he said:
"There is still no deal between the two teams because Real Madrid don't get closer to what http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy asks for, but we understand what Modric wants and he understands our behaviour as well.”
"Modric is still training on his own. This is a 'pact' between the two of us and that's the way it will be until his future is decided.”
"Of course we respect Real Madrid and their claims, but they should also respect us."
Tottenham’s stubborn stance could prove to be a major stumbling block in the transfer proceedings, and Modric may be stuck at White Hart Lane for the third season running.
