thinking of buying a true modular home, what should i look out for, who do you recommend, greensboro nc

  1. Be on the lookout for little EXTRAS.....like a garage, septic field, putting the furnace/central air in the basement instead of on the first floor, a basement, PERIOD...putting the laundry in the basement as opposed to on the first floor,landscaping, single-hung windows (as opposed to the now popular double-hung style),  and don't forget the MOST important issue, and that is---whatever price they quote you, that price applies to being placed on property that you have already acquired!  They DO NOT supply the lot.  Other than that, have fun.

  2. I recentley bought a modular home and everyone who has seen it is impressed with the quality. Our experience was be most concerned with the history and integrity of who you buy from.

  3. first see if you can get insurance !! lots of turn downs because of hurricanes , if you can without paying a kings Ransom talk to someone you know that has one they are the best to find out the pros's and con's of modular home !!

  4. Within the past year, a relative of mine bought a new modular and had it put on a full foundation.  All of the walls and ceilings were drywall, with 8' high ceilings.  I was impressed by the quality of materials and workmanship.  It cost about $100,000.

    I have had some experience with mobile homes and modulars.  I am a retired claims adjuster.
