Modun returning to British racing in the Princess Of Wales’s Goldsmiths Stakes to win for the first time under Godolphin's banner

The Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Goldsmiths Stakes will mark the return of the five-year-old brown gelding, Modun, to the British flat racing and, that too will be his seasonal debut at a British race track.
The race will be hosted by Newmarket over a mile and four furlongs on Thursday, 12th July.
The line-up of nine three-year and above runners will get to race over a good to soft ground and, will battle for the wire in order to take home the £61,899 prize money.
The most celebrated entry for the race today is, Red Cadeaux however, Modun’s potential to dish out roaring success at the track today cannot be undermined, especially keeping in mind the victory that he brought for his connections through the second last race of the previous season.
King’s Best’s gelding won the Group 3 Betfred September Stakes on 3rd September, 2011 at Kempton over a mile and four furlongs. Sir Michael Stoute’s trainee was paired up with jockey, Shane Kelly for the race.
In the field of seven, by the time there were six more furlongs to reel into, the duo sped to join the leading trio. The entrance into the second last furlong was challenging but, the two successfully engineered a tactic that gave them command over the final 1 ½ lengths.
Finishing the closest behind the winner was, Bronze Cannon.
The farewell race of the 2011 season for the Olympienne foaled remains to be the most devastating memory for the connections, as the Irish gelding was the last to leave the track in the Group 1 Handicap Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington over two miles on 1st November, 2011.
This was the first race that the five-year-old under took after joining the Godolphin string from 30th October, 2011. Saeed Bin Suroor then took the gelding to the UAE.
Modun ended fourth in the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy Sponsored By Attijari Al Islami on 1st March at the Meydan race course over a mile and six furlongs.
Sent at 11 to 1, the Godolphin owned will become the mount for the champion rider, Frankie Dettori, and the two will start their trip from the very first stall.
The line-up is competitive, but the elements that work in the favour of Modun are more, leaving him with not much excuse to miss the chance.
