Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif ousts Guo Kai in round-of-16 contest at Indonesia Open GP Gold
Malaysia’s talented back-up shuttler Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif showed a great performance and stormed into Men’s Singles quarter-final after showing exit to China’s Guo Kai in round-of-16 showdown at the Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton 2012 on Thursday,
September 27, in Indonesia.
The impressive Malaysian shuttler, who has been positioned at number 7 in Men’s Singles main draw, showed his remarkable skills and easily registered a comprehensive victory over Guo in a lopsided way by consuming just 28 minutes.
Arif has been struggling hard to establish his name at international level for the last couple of years and in his contest against Guo, he proved that he has got elevated skills and can take bigger challenges now.
Malaysian player executed impressive shots with wonderful variations throughout the match and eventually ended it up in straight games with a striking margin on score board.
The un-seeded Guo, on the other hand, could not live up to expectations as he failed to match the skills and precision of his Malaysian challenger in the whole battle and crashed out without creating a considerable impact.
In the opening game, Arif showed an impressive aggression on court as he played with impressive confidence and his incredible speed created the major difference between both shuttlers.
The seventh seeded Malaysian dictated the terms of the game on court and managed to set up a striking lead of 11-5 until the break.
After the interval, Arif continued displaying his fabulous skills on court without showing any mercy to Guo and ultimately took the first game with a dominating margin of 21-14.
In the second set, Arif again was on the driving seat as he played to his maximum potential and managed to take a comfortable lead of 11-7 until the break.
After the break, Arif did not let his Chinese opponent to reduce the deficit as he played at the same speed and took the set with a staggering margin of 21-14.
The spirited Arif thrashed Guo at pre-quarter-final stage by winding up the match in just 28 minutes with a smashing 21-14 and 21-14 margin on score board.
