Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif wants to change his lifestyle to become a world beater – Badminton news
Malaysia’s talented back-up shuttler Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif wants to step up in elite shuttlers in the country and for that purpose he realises that he needs to change his lifestyle in order to put in extra effort in his training sessions to become a world class shuttler.
The aggressive Arif, who has been poisoned at number 53 in Men’s Singles world ranking, has not yet made his presence strongly felt at international stage despite but he is a bright prospect considering that he has a great potential that he showed in domestic tournaments last year.
In the starting months of 2012, Arif showed a great improvement and also became a part of national squad for Thomas Cup Qualifying Round.
The young Arif has the vision to replace the top shuttler Lee Chong Wei who is expected to quit playing competitive badminton in 2014.
Besides badminton, Arif is an outgoing person and usually spends his weekend in his favourite hobby, which is fishing.
However, he has realised that it makes him tired and prevents him from giving his hundred percent on court.
While talking about his upcoming plans, a determined Arif expressed his hunger for glory and for achieving that goal he is ready to make sacrifices by changing his lifestyle.
He stated, “I want to do better than the previous tournaments and for that to happen, I have to make changes in my lifestyle especially the way I spend my free time. In fact, I have to give up my weekend hobby – fishing, because it makes me tired and unable to give 100 per cent in training.”
He further added, “Many of our juniors and back-up player have shown a lot of improvement over these past months. It is a wake-up call for me to start taking things more seriously. I want to make the grade for the 2014 Asian Games.”
Arif also wants to reach at least in the semi-final of upcoming Vietnam Open, which will take place from August 21-26 in Vietnam.
The talented Arif has been missing the mark in international tournaments but this time he is confident to step up the arena by putting in extra efforts to improve his game in all aspects.
