Mohamed Shehab, Mohammed Al Joaker crash out of 2012 7-Nation International Snooker Championship
Emirati potters Mohamed Shehab and Mohammed Al Joaker, who were selected to participate in the 2012 7-Nation International Snooker Championship at the Pearl Continental Hotel arena in Karachi, Pakistan, have crashed out of the tournament after losing at
the hands of Pakistani National Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif and Egyptian Snooker ace Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed respectively.
The pair had a good start in the tournament in their respective matches of first round bit they failed to improvise against the fury of Asif and Ibrahim who showed no mercy and cornered them quite easily by the score line of 4-3 and 4-3 respectively. The
Emirati duo had no chance to get back into the game and claim any victory in the tournament.
Mohammad Al Joaker had a superb start of the tournament with a splendid victory over the Indian Snooker ace and the former two-time Asian Snooker Champion Yasin Merchant. He defeated the Indian with a classy score line of 4-2 in the round robin formatted
group matches. At that point, Al Joaker was looking quite strong and had the chance to surge into the final stages of the tournament but unfortunately, he tumbled down in the next match.
In his first-round clash after the round robin matches, he was up against the Egyptian Number one snooker player Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed. Ibrahim also got a scintillating start in the tournament and was one of the toughest opponents. He proved his class
in the match against Al Joaker and defeated him in a decider frame by the score line of 4-3.
On the other hand, Shehab clinched a winning position in his initial encounter against Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif, who recently won the 2012 37th National Snooker Championship. Both Asif and Shehab played brilliantly in the first session of the match and finished
it at 2-2 level. The tussle between both of these players continued in the second session too where they finished the sixth frame at 3-3.
The decider frame was dominated by Shehab in the first few minutes but a simple miss from him brought Asif on the baize. Asif cleared the table instantly to place himself in the second round while Shehab had to pack his bags after losing by 4-3.
