Mohamed Shehab believes his mistakes brought him semi-final encounter defeat
Potters from six nations gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to take part in the 2012 Selangor Open snooker event and so far have produced some outstanding snooker clashes. The tournament has entered the final stages of the tournament where the top potters
have made their way into the ultimate battle.
One of the top ranking potters of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed Shehab has crashed out of the 2012 Selangor Open snooker tournaments after losing to the Pakistani potter, Imtiaz Serwer by the score line of 6-1. Shehab was on fire throughout the tournament
but he was not able to maintain his game in the penultimate stage of the event and tumbled down easily.
The Emirati cueman performed brilliantly from the beginning of the tournament along with his compatriot Mohammad Al Joaker, who dropped out of the event in the Last-16 round. The former Asian Indoor Games gold medallist had control over his game in the start
of his semi-final match up but he lost his focus during the game.
The match up was expected to finish in Shehab’s favour because comparatively he was a better cueist than his Pakistani counterpart. However, some silly mistakes and easy misses in his semi-final run brought him down against Serwer. Shehab himself believes
that he lost the match because he committed some silly mistakes which he should not have made.
While speaking to the local media, Shehab said, “Without taking away anything away from him, it was my own mistakes that cost me the match. His safety worked very well today and he was able to push me into situations where I was forced to mistakes. I simply
couldn't get the cue ball close enough to the cushions to make things difficult for him.”
The Emirati potter further added, “Throughout the tournament, I was able to score easily but today Serwer simply did not give me any chance. I need to work more on my safety when I return to the practice table.”
Meanwhile, Shehab will be looking forward to concentrate in the upcoming snooker events in the season and forget about this loss as soon as possible so that it cannot trouble him during his run in the next snooker events.
