The former Borussia Dortmund striker has reunited with his former club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 after falling down the pecking order of strikers at the Westfalenstadion.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mohamed-Zidan-c26404 has re-signed with Mainz until the end of this season with an option of extending his deal for a further two years. The striker was continuously being linked with a move out of the Signal Iduna Park during the recently
concluded winter transfer window, and agreed to leave on the deadline day.
The striker slipped down the pecking order at Dortmund due to the presence of attackers such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-Barrios-c22533. As a result, the 30-year-old was pushed down into the reserves squad,
but straightaway agreed to move to Mainz in order to get more first team appearances under his belt.
Zidan expressed his pleasure at this transfer, and wished to have the same success with the O-Fives as he had during his previous two-year stint (2005-2007). The Egyptian mentioned that he would prefer being a first team regular
for the Carnival Club, and once again wants to win fans at the Coface Arena.
While talking to the official club website, the former Werder Bremen player further added:
"I am happy that the transfer has been worked out at the last moment. I wanted to return to Mainz. I have never forgotten the great time I had there with the club and their fans.”
On the other hand, Zidan showed delight on spending four successful years at Dortmund, and winning the Bundesliga title in return. He stated that the Borussians were looking for him to prolong his stay at the Westfalenstadion which
might not have been the best of decisions on his part.
"I've had fantastic years in Dortmund, who were looking for me to stay, but I wanted a new sporting challenge," Zidan concluded.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Egypt-c2890 international signed for the Borussians in 2008, and managed 66 league appearances, netting 13 goals in return. The player previously had a two-year spell at Mainz where he bagged nine goals from 26 league appearances.
With 15 games to go in this season’s Bundesliga, Zidan can prove his worth at the club and manage a permanent transfer at the end of the campaign.
