Mohammad Aamer: Pakistan’s Bowling Prodigy
Mohammad Aamer is the latest bowling sensation that Pakistan has managed to produce in recent years. The young left arm bowler is being called the next great bowler of the world. Having been found by another superb left arm bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, Mohammad Aamer is all set to set the cricket world on fire.
At just 18 years of age, Aamer is able to swing the ball and fool even the best batsmen of the world while bowling deliveries at a ferocious pace. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has an ability to produce some phenomenal bowlers and more often they are high quality fast bowlers with the ability to swing the ball both ways. The future looks very bright for this amazing talent.
Aamer was discovered by none other than Wasim Akram at a pace camp in the cultural capital of Pakistan, Lahore, in 2007. Aamer was then groomed by Akram and was sent to represent Pakistan in England at an Under 19 Tour of the country.
Being very impressive during the tour, Aamer was included into the national side in 2008. He was very impressive during a tri-nation tournament between Pakistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and England. His career really took off in 2009 and he has looked unstoppable ever since. He is able to bowl with pace, accuracy and bravery and this is a very impressive feat for someone so young.
Aamer has surprised a lot of people around the world. Looking so young, not too many people would expect him to bowl with such skill and accuracy. He has the ability to deceive batsmen with deliveries that swing into and away from the batsmen. A lot of cricket pundits are saying that Aamer has the same quality as Wasim Akram to manipulate the ball with his wrist.
He can control the ball and like a quality spin bowler can tell the ball where to go with the turn of his hand. Very few bowlers have the accuracy to place the ball where they want it to go; some have sheer pace, some great turn, but a select few can put the ball exactly where it is supposed to go.
Akram used to bowl a superb toe-breaker; a delivery aimed at a batsman’s feet that would force him to move out of the way and he would get bowled in the process. Akram did not even need a long run up, he had a very short run up for a fast bowler and he would pitch the ball at a very quick pace even with that short run.
Aamer is following the same path because with his accuracy, he will just get better and better over the years and he will be placing balls at batsmen’s feet in no time.
One of the best compliments that Aamer has received is from the great Wasim Akram himself. The legend stated that the prodigy was a better and smarter bowler than he himself was at the age of 18. That statement coming from Aamer’s idol must have lifted the young bowler to new heights. There is mutual respect between both bowlers because Aamer idolises the retired bowler and Wasim is very impressed with the young talent.
There might be a little bit more awe and wonder coming from the Aamer camp towards Akram, but that is to be expected. Some have said that Aamer’s wiry frame will lead to injuries in the future but there is talk of the young bowler hitting the gym and bulking up a bit. Hopefully he will not bulk up to Shoaib Akhtar’s level and start to look like a bodybuilder.
The future looks very bright for this talented and superb new bowler. At just 18 years of age, Aamer has a long way to go but under the mentorship of Wasim Akram and being coached by another fantastic retired bowler, Waqar Younis, his rise to being the best bowler in the world will only be a matter of time.
