Mohammad Ahsan, Bona Septano power their way to Men’s Doubles quarter-finals – Singapore Open Update
Indonesia’s prime Men’s Doubles team Mohammad Ahsan-Bona Septano escorted their country to quarter-finals of Li Ning Singapore Open by beating Mads Conrad Petersen-Jonas Rasmussen on June 21, 2012.
World Number seven duo stamped their supremacy by sealing a straight-set win with 21-15 and 21-18 score on the board.
They took just 32 minutes to clinch the honour and setup a clash with Japanese pair Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Noriyasu Hirata in the round of eight.
Earlier in second round match, they played with authoritative approach and completely outclassed their lower ranked challengers in all areas of game.
Their coordination was feast for the eyes as they did not show sign of confusion in any part of this crucial tussle.
On the other hand, the Danish couple could not read their competitor’s game and crashed out of event in a woeful manner.
The twosome of Mads Conrad and Jonas Rasmussen lacked good finishing skills as both times they let the game slip from their hands after establishing a grip in the start.
In first set of the match, they took off in perfect manner and enjoyed a smooth flight in first four rallies but they could not continue with same momentum and crashed in later part of the game.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian campaigners rose on their toes after remaining at lower end until first half and tipped the scale in their favour.
They levelled score at 13-13 and then wrapped the show in just two steps. At first, they gained two-point lead and then pocketed five continuous points to put final margin of 21-15.
There was lot of drama in following segment of the contest as at one stage the Danish pair was just few steps away from a crucial win but the opposing team pushed them back with an intensive reply.
Mads Conrad and Jonas Rasmussen launched a brisk attack and fetched five consecutive points in the beginning. They continued proceeding at top speed and finished first half with 11-7.
However, they blundered at crucial position of 18-15 and their rivals Mohammad Ahsan-Bona Septano did not miss this opportunity. They prevailed in last six rallies and placed a winning total of 21-18.
