Mohammad Ahsan and Bona Septano penetrate into Men’s Doubles semi-final at Singapore Open
Mohammad Ahmad and Bona Septano, who are top seeded shuttlers in Indonesia, reached into Men’s Doubles semi-final after winning their quarter-final battle against Hirokatsu Hashimoto and Noriyasu Hirata of Japan at the 2012 Singapore Open Super Series in
Singapore, on Friday, June 22.
The third seeded Ahsan and Septano, who are World Number 7 in Men’s Doubles category, had to work to their maximum potential and overpowered their talented Japanese opponents in a thrilling contest with a tight margin.
The higher ranked Ahsan and Septano lost the opening game but managed to level the match by raking the following set. They played impressive badminton in the ending points of final set and won the battle with a narrow margin on the board.
On the other hand, the eighth seeded Hirokatsu and Noriyasu showed impressive performance and won the first game.
However, they failed to put up strong show in the second game and lost it. In the deciding set, the Japanese shuttlers remained unlucky in ending points and lost the match with a respectable score.
In the first game, both sides played tremendous game without losing their focus at any stage and were close on the score board until the interval.
After the break, the higher ranked Ahsan and Septano tried to set up a reasonable lead but failed to maintain their focus in the game at the ending points and lost the set with a close score of 19-21.
In the second game, Ahsan and Septano were on a different level as they did not commit mistake this time and played with aggression. They remained focused in the whole set and bagged it with a sensational score of 21-12.
In the decider, both sides showed a mouth watering show to the local crowd by playing at their best speed in all areas of the court and reached at 20-20.
At this breath-taking stage, Ahsan and Septano showed their brilliance as they played dominating game and took the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
The higher ranked Ahsan and Septano won this nail-biting contest in rubber games with a tight margin of 19-21, 21-12 and 22-20.
