Mohammad Amir meets PCB officials- Cricket News Update
According to a media source, Pakistan’s banned fast-bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board’s officials in order to discuss his long term future in international cricket.
The 19-year-old met Chairman PCB, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 and Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmed in a meeting which lasted for approximately two hours with both parties evidently disturbed by the whole saga that put the country’s reputation at risk.  
Despite the earlier backing shown by PCB, Amir was now asked to complete his 5-Year term as imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and abide by the rules and regulations of the Governing Body.
PCB however, has promised the talented youngster that they will indeed help him out thorough this difficult period, by rehabilitating him under various recovery programs which will prove vital in his eventual comeback. The board, in this regard, had formally
requested the ICC last month and inquired if there remains a remote possibility for the offender to get back on the cricket field. However, ICC has yet to provide a formal response.
"The chairman also said that the board would try to put him through a rehabilitation and counseling program as soon as possible with the permission of the ICC," the source said.
The chairman and COO further took the initiative by discussing the whole spot-fixing controversy, which came to surface in 2010. Amir was questioned regarding his own involvement, along with the root cause of the now infamous situation.  
The 19-year old pacer was found guilty after bowling deliberate no-balls during a Test match against England at Lords in August 2010. In Feb 2011, ICC imposed a ban on Amir, along with his then teammates http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993 for 5, 10 and 7 years
respectively.
Later that year, The Southwark Crown Court in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 also sentenced imprisonment to the offenders where the trios were handed different jail terms. Amir however, was released after serving half of his six-month sentence due to good behaviour and returned
home in Feb 2012.
PCB, despite offering sympathy, didn’t come forward throughout the proceedings of the spot-fixing case and left the results on the findings of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625. The board, however adopted strict compliance policies to prevent any such incident in future.
