Mohammad Amir not happy with the International Cricket Council (ICC)
Mohammad Amir, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 pacer accused of spot-fixing, has vowed to file a protest to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the unofficial release of a conversation the cricketing body had with team coach Waqar Younis,
skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and security manager Khawaja Najam regarding the matter of spot-fixing.
According to Amir’s Lawyer Shahid Karim, this information was confidential and should not have been made public, because it may damage his client’s case before the hearing. Karim was alarmed by the publication of such secret documents
in the press before the actual hearing of the case.
He said, “I have no idea who could have leaked out these documents but it does concern my client as he feels he is being portrayed negatively beforehand. We intend to lodge a protest with the ICC on this issue and on how these
confidential documents are coming in public."
Karim, however, hoped that the ICC’s anti-corruption tribunal will not be influenced by the disclosure of these statements to the public and will focus on the evidential facts provided to them during the hearing.
“The tribunal, I am hopeful, will give a decision based on facts and only it can decide whether my client is guilty or not," he said.
The lawyer said that such statements are maligning the already tattered credibility of Amir and the publication of such statements is the last thing his client would want at this time.
On Tuesday, controversial statements by Younis, Afridi and Najam were published in a daily newspaper, according to which, they suspected some sort of foul play by the tainted trio.
Waqar stated that he confronted the young Amir about the controversial no-ball that he bowled but before Amir could respond, Salman Butt jumped in and explained to the coach that he had ordered the bowler to come forward and bowl
a bouncer to the batsman.
Afridi was of the opinion that the players looked guilty to him the moment their rooms were raided by the British police, and according to the former team security manager Khawaja Najam, the players indeed had good relations with
the bookie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed as Najam had seen them mingle with Majeed on numerous occasions.
Amir, along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, is suspended from playing all formats of cricket because of his alleged involved in spot-fixing. The trio is currently awaiting a formal hearing of their case set to begin from the
6th of January. An independent ICC tribunal will be presiding the hearing to give its verdict regarding the future of the suspected players. In case they are found guilty, the trio can face a life ban from the sport.
