http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 plans to complete education during the five-year ban
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s banned pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed his desire to complete his education during the five-year ban from the sport of cricket.
Amir left his studies as he made his name in the cricket world and pretty much cemented his place in the national squad which required him to tour with the team making it difficult to continue his studies.
However, now his bright future has been put on halt after he was found guilty of spot-fixing by an International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Tribunal in February, 2011.
Amir deciding to use the time of his ban in a productive manner said, “I had to leave my college studies because of my full-time career in cricket once I was selected for Pakistan. But now I am trying privately to get a college degree.”
The former Pakistan pacer admitted that he was going through the toughest time of his life. “I am passing through the toughest period of my life and I have realised just how important it is to get a good education.”
The youngster said that his family had suggested that he should focus on his studies now that his cricketing career has been put on halt. Amir did not specify the area in which he would peruse a degree in. Many players in Pakistan come from rural backgrounds
and do not have enough opportunities to complete a decent education.
While talking to the media, he also confirmed that he had filed an appeal against his ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and was hoping for a result in his favour. Amir also announced that he would attend the magistrates hearing in London soon for
a case against him, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
He expressed regret and frustration for not being a part of the national team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011, which is being played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 this year. Pakistan so far have won all the three matches that they have played in the
tournament. The victories came against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748.
The trio of Butt, Amir and Asif was banned for ten, five and seven years respectively after they were indicted for taking bribes from a bookmaker named http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed to bowl deliberate no-balls during the Lord’s Test against England in August 2010. Butt
and Asif have also appealed against their bans in the CAS.
Even after the verdict, they still maintain their innocence and deny involvement in any wrong doings. For now, the trio is to remain away from any cricket related activities sanctioned by the ICC and its affiliate cricket boards. However, if they win their
cases in CAS, they would be able to resume their cricketing careers.
