Bangladeshi middle-order batsman, Mohammad Ashraful has criticized chief selector, Akram Khan of treating him unfairly after the player was axed from the home Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Ashraful dreadful run with the bat continued after he failed to add notable contributions in the ODI series against the Windies. He managed just 2 in the first game before failing to open his account in the 2nd one dayer, which handed the series
to their opponents.
With him being axed from the third ODI, which his team won by 8 wickets, the former skipper has now come out and claimed that he was treated unfairly by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, who said that he will be retained for the Test series.
"Akram bhai told me ahead of the second ODI that I should sit out the next two and play in the Test," he was quoted as saying in the Daily Star. "I told him that I want to play the remaining games and earn my way into the Test side. How can there be a guarantee
in cricket? I wanted to play out the ODI series and take it from there."
Contrary to his comments, Khan insisted that he did not make any promises with the player regarding his selection in the Test team. "I don't know what Ashraful has said but I talk to players all the time and I say a lot of things to encourage them," he said.
Despite the chief selector not appreciated by many of the players, which has seen him having a troublesome relationship with the likes of former skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559, the ODI numbers of Ashraful are woeful considering the last 12 months or so.
He has averaged a sluggish 10.11 in 18 One day innings, a span which stretches back to January of last year. Also, it has not been the first time the player has been axed, with the management partying company with the player earlier in the year before recalling
him for the World Cup 2011.
For now, it is likely the player will miss both the Test matches on home turf and a question marks now lingers over his longer term future with the team.
