Mohammad Ashraful’s exclusion from Tests a clear message for Bangladesh players, says Stuart Law – Cricket News Update
Bangladesh cricket coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460, has termed Mohammad Ashraf’s omission from the Test squad as a clear warning for the rest of the players that they will have to perform well in order to retain their place in the side.
Following a dismal show in the recently-concluded three-match One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Ashraful lost his place in the squad for the upcoming two Tests.
The veteran batsman failed to do anything and collected just a couple of runs in two matches. Law made it clear that since the Bangladesh side is not in a situation to carry on with out-of-form players, any cricketer with a lacklustre performance will face
similar consequences.
He however, clarified that Ashraful’s exclusion does not mean that the talented batsman’s career has finished, adding that Ashraful will back into the side once he returns to his best.
"He's not in the Test side but he's not finished. Sometimes these calls are made not to disregard the player completely but to make sure he understands that if you play in the team, you've got to be performing. That'd be the message
to all the players: if you want to be part of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The coach and team management have named a new-look squad to take on Caribbean Kings in a couple of Tests, scheduled to be played at Chittagong and Mirpur respectively.
Of the youngsters in the present troop, the coach cited left-arm spinner, Elias Sunny, as a capable player to make an impact at the highest level of the game. Referring to his outstanding stats at the domestic level, Law hoped the
new fellow will not disappoint national selectors.
"He has pretty good numbers in first-class cricket. He showed plenty of control and took wickets in the BCB Cup and the four-day game. That's all you need to do as a spinner," added the former Australian cricketer who is confident of a great show by his
team which tasted a bitter 1-2 defeat in the ODI series.
