The suspended fast bowler of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Mohammad Asif has hired the services of Barrister Allan Alexander Cameron in UK. Cameron is the elder brother of the prime minister of UK David Cameron. Barrister Cameron has been hired for his services to Asif in Crown
Prosecution Service.
Asif was suspended by the ICC after the controversial tour of England. He is not the only one suspended; Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt are the other two players who have been suspended alongside Asif.
Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir appealed against the provisional suspension by ICC but Asif decided against the appeal. The appeals of Butt and Amir were turned down and the suspension was upheld.
Apart from the spot-fixing allegations which were alleged by the English tabloid News of The World, the players will also be facing criminal charges being investigated by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard in London. The final report of the investigation by the Scotland
Yard will be submitted to CPS later this month and it will play an important role in determining the outcome of the ICC hearing against spot-fixing which is scheduled to be held in January 2011.
Barrister Cameron was not the initial choice of Asif to defend his case against the criminal charges in England. He first hired the services of Elizabeth Robertson. Elizabeth had to take a maternity leave from 22 December due to which she was unable to carry
on with the case. She suggested Asif to hire Barrister Cameron to plead for him in her replacement.
Salman Butt has already hired the Indian lawyer barrister Yasin Patel to plead for him at CPS against the Scotland Yard report. He has also hired the services of Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan who is a renowned lawyer from Pakistan to represent him in the hearing
by ICC in January next year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will also be announcing the preliminary squad for the World Cup by 19 December. These three players will not be a part of the squad and it will be a major loss for the Pakistan team. However, the players will hope that the allegations
against them are proved false and they can return to the team as soon as possible.
