Pakistan’s banned fast bowler, Mohammad Asif, has claimed innocence once again and expressed that he is going to launch a book very soon in which he will reveal his version of the whole spot-fixing controversy.
The 29-year-old cricketer has been out of competitive cricket since the scandalous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418.
The trio has been banned from playing competitive cricket since then and was later jailed as well in England.
Asif however, maintains that there was no evidence against him but he was still punished, which is extremely unjust on part of the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625). The fast bowler admits that he has gone through a very bad time
but claims to reveal the facts very soon.
"It was quite difficult time, but thank god it is over," he said. "The way ICC has prejudiced my case, there are lots of things which are not yet clear and nobody knows it, even you people [the media] have not highlighted it, but I
will do it.”
The right-arm seamer came through the ranks of domestic cricket in the country, having done brilliantly in different seasons of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The cricketer from Sheikhupura was considered to be one of the finest bowlers in
the world because of his immaculate control and the ability to move the ball both ways in the air as well off the track.
In the 23 Tests, 38 One Day Internationals and 11 T20s for the Green Shirts, Asif picked up 165 wickets at the highest stage of the game, looking set for many more before he was banned. It is extremely unfortunate to see that a cricketer
of such potential had a career full of controversies.
The fast bowler is going to launch a book in future in which he will present his version of the story.
"I didn't do anything wrong. There was one no-ball and, whatever the scenario was behind it, I described it in the court. There are lots of things and it will be in my book, which will be launched very soon," Asif added.
