Pakistan thumped the hosts by five wickets in the series opener in Bangalore on Tuesday, and Hafeez credited his bowlers, especially the paces, for the emphatic triumph. India were 77 without loss at one stage, before Pakistan made a comeback through Umar
Gul (3-0-21-3), restricting the formidable Indian batting line-up to 133 for 9 at the end of their stipulated 20 overs.
Gul, a veteran of 50 T20 Internationals, was well complemented by debutant http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 (2 for 25 from four overs).
Hafeez, himself a genuine right-arm off-spinning all-rounder, credited his bowlers for the five-wicket win in Bangalore, and insisted that bowling was their strength since the attack has a lot of variety.
"I will give credit to the bowlers and fielders. They [India] were 70 for no loss and after that we came back. Bowling has always been our strength and in the last match even after a bad start, the comeback was outstanding. As a captain I am very pleased
with that," said the visiting skipper at the customary match-eve media interaction in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 is the only one who hasn't bowled but he is good enough to play his role in any format with his spin bowling. We always believe that as a bowling unit, we can always come
back. We have got enough experience. We can dominate with our bowling," added the experienced Pakistan all-rounder.
The five-wicket victory in Bangalore on Tuesday was Pakistan’s first win over the arch-rivals in the shortest format of the game. Hafeez said that he had no doubts that his side will go on to clinch the series as well, by winning the second match on Friday.
The 32-year-old Sargodha all-rounder also lavished praise for his surprise pacer, Mohammad Irfan, terming him as an “outstanding talent”.
"He is an outstanding talent," said Hafeez, a veteran of 107 One Day Internationals and 41 T20 Internationals. "...for us he came across as a surprise package, who will be difficult especially in this part of the world and also across the world because of
the extra bounce he gets," he added further.
Asked about the pressure, the visiting skipper said, "Pressure is always there on both teams. It is always there at the international level. I don't know about them [India] but we are taking the game easy and we will try to win it."
The two-match T20 series will be followed by three One Day Internationals between December 30 and January 6, 2013.
