win, as well as the series triumph against the Rhodesians at the Harare Sports Club, on Sunday, September 11, 2011.
As for the Zimbabwean bowlers, the day came a little tough on the pacers who failed to make much use of the Harare pitch, which previously served as a winning ground for the hosts against the Bangladeshi visitors. At the same time, the Rhodesian Skipper,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200, had many apologies to offer to his team mates, stating after the match that he did not want to bat first, despite winning the toss, owning the responsibility for losing the series, solely to himself.
For Pakistan, nothing mattered much as Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 led his much overhauled squad to another major win.
However, to give credit to the Rhodesians, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, following the loss of the opening batters.
The pair exhibited a potent spell of batting, offering an impressive 104-run partnership, but just when the skipper had thought of taking on a fruitful decision to bat first as well as scoring a decent half century, Pakistan’s young pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037, struck
Taylor’s stumps, sending him off to the Pavilion.
As the match trailed into the final quarter of the Zimbabwean innings, the hosts suffered another streak of blows to their line-up, losing an additional 3 wickets, including the valued stumps of Masakadza, who walked off at a solid 68.
Suffering a toll of 6 wickets, Zimbabwe managed to pile up a below-par total of 225 which was then easily taken on by Hafeez and Farhat.
Making good use of the batsmen friendly pitch, the pair sailed through the innings, and managed to cover up the mark with ease.
Hafeez, who was also named as the Man of the Match, bagged his career best, unbeaten total of 139, followed by Farhat, who came out with an impressive comeback, scoring 75.
The pair’s indestructible partnership not only led Pakistan into winning the match but also came as the highest opening partnership for the team, as well as the highest partnership ever made at the Harare Sports Club; a record previous held by the South
Africans.
The Men in Green are scheduled to go against the hosts in the third and final ODI, set to kick off on September 14 at Harare, followed by 2 Twenty20 (T20) matches on September 16 and 18.
