Happy with his team managing to draw the two-match T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team, Mohammad Hafeez, expressed satisfaction over Mohammad Sami's improved performance in the second and final T20 of the
short series.
"Sami showed great character today to bounce back from a disappointing start in his comeback game," said Hafeez while speaking to the media reporters at the post-match press conference.
"I had mentioned earlier that this is part of a new outlook by the team where if some players are making a comeback, it's crucial to give them confidence. The coach and myself gave him that confidence and he delivered," he added further.
Sami, making a comeback to the national squad after a gap of more than two-years, delivered a poor spell in the opening T20 of the two-match series at Hambantota on Friday, June 1, 2012. The 31-year-old Karachi born right-arm fast bowler was quite expensive
in Friday’s game, conceding 22 runs for only one wicket in his spell of two overs.
But the selectors and the captain, keeping confidence in right-hander’s pace, retained him for the second T20, where he compensated with an impressive spell of 3 for 16 in three overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665, also making a comeback to the side after a gap, was adjudged as the Man of the Series for his economical bowling in the seam friendly conditions. The 27-year-old left-arm medium pacer finished the series with figures of 4 for 27 from 8 overs.
Tanvir said that he enjoyed bowling in these conditions and hoped to continue with his good form if given a chance in the five-match One Day International series as well.
"Ball seamed around, and that's what I wanted, especially coming back," said Tanvir at the post-match press conference. "I enjoyed bowling in these conditions. It was difficult for the batsmen to time the ball. I enjoyed it though," he added further.
The five match ODI series starts at Pallekele on June 7 and will run till June 18. The first two ODIs will be played at Pallekele while the last three will be hosted by Colombo.
